Born and raised on the West Rand, Don Vito is a proud, full-blooded Madeirense whose passion for music and entertainment is deeply rooted in his Portuguese heritage. Growing up in a traditional Madeiran family, embracing the customs, traditions and sounds of Calheta, Madeira, played a significant role in shaping his musical journey and inspiring him to pursue a career behind the decks.
With over 15 years of DJ experience, his vision was always to bring Portuguese and Latin sounds into Johannesburg's nightlife, introducing these genres to a wider audience while staying true to their cultural roots. Portuguese and Latino music remain his forte, complemented by a versatile musical style spanning commercial, house and international club sounds. Taking his passion a step further, Don Vito also produces and creates his own Portuguese music edits, bringing a fresh, modern twist to traditional sounds and introducing them to new audiences.
Over the years, he has become a familiar name within South Africa's Portuguese entertainment scene, performing at some of the country's biggest cultural festivals and celebrations, including Madeira Fest, Lusito Land, Pora Fest, Pretoria Portuguese Festival, Portuguese Festival, Magaliesburg Festa, Witbank's Dia da Madeira, Welkom Portuguese Heritage Festival, West Rand NYE at Ramkiki and events at Casa da Madeira Pretoria and Alberton. His experience also extends across numerous Portuguese socials, New Year's Eve celebrations and cultural events, working alongside established organisations and entertainment groups such as Portuguese Forum, Young Adult Portuguese Society, Portuguese Forum Youth and Caliente Socials.
Driven by his immense pride in his Madeiran identity and a desire to contribute beyond the DJ booth, Don Vito founded Caliente Socials, his own Portuguese, Madeiran and Latino entertainment brand. Through a series of socials and events, the brand aims to bring these sounds to the forefront of nightlife, creating spaces where Madeiran and Portuguese people can connect, meet, network and celebrate their shared heritage. At its heart, Caliente Socials is about preserving culture, keeping traditions alive and creating new experiences that bring generations together, while giving a modern twist.
For Don Vito, music is more than entertainment: it is a connection to his roots, his identity and his community. His mission remains simple: to honour the traditions of his Madeiran heritage while continuing to evolve the sound, celebrate the culture and ensure that it lives on for generations to come.
